We welcome you to watch the many exciting events at the Olympic Kennel Club Dog Show, but please observe dog show rules of etiquette so you and your dog do not distract the competing dogs.
• Do enjoy yourself! Try to spend time in all parts of the fairgrounds. If this is your first dog show, keep in mind that there are four types of competition: - Agility – Obstacle course for dogs- dogs judged on speed and accuracy – Football Field - Obedience – Contest of dog’s trainability and focus. Dogs perform heeling, retrieving, jumping, recalls, stays, etc. – Obedience Building - Rally – Fun new sport that combines aspects of Agility and Obedience –Obedience Building - Conformation – Purebred dogs judged on how they compare to breed standard – Main Fairgrounds and Toy Breed Building
You can pick up a schedule of the rings and times at the Superintendent’s booth along vendor row
Don’t be afraid to ask questions but take care not to cause distractions for dogs in the ring
Keep your dog on a short leash and be aware of what your dog is doing at all times. If you have a retractable lead, keep it locked at a short length.
If your dog is overly excited and is barking, jumping, etc., then the atmosphere is probably too stimulating for him/her, and you should take your dog home for his best interest and the best interest of other dogs at the event.
Be mindful of your dog when in congested areas and try to avoid congestion if possible. Please be particularly careful in those areas where the competition dogs are waiting/warming up. Also, please avoid standing near the entrances to rings.
We welcome you to watch the competitions, but please keep your dog away from the ring barriers to avoid distracting the competing dogs.
Always ask permission from owners before petting a strange dog and instruct your children to ask permission before petting a dog.
Do not allow your dog to run up to or visit with other dogs. Competitors are trying to keep their dogs focused on them.
If your dog has an accident, please clean it up. If your dog relieves itself outside the show building, please pick up and deposit waste in a trash can.
What Our participants Are Saying
"I can't say enough for Olympic Kennel Club Dog Show. It is very hard to pull this all together and offer so much for so many venues of training. OKC has put great time and effort to see that all exhibitors have an opportunity to show. I personally thank OKC for that opportunity as I show in Obedience, Barn Hunt, Dock Diving, Coursing and now working Agility. You can pick and choose and have fun everyday. Thank you OKC ! ."
